Vladimir Muratov hit .391/.522/.522 with 24 runs, 21 RBI and 22 steals in 25 tries in 21 games for RusStar in the 1999 Russian League, making 11 errors. The teenager tied for 7th in the league in walks (17), was 10th in average, tied Valeri Platonov for 7th in OBP (.522), ranked 6th in doubles (9) and was second in steals (17 behind Alexander Nizov). He was 2-3 with a 7.20 ERA. He made the Russian national team for the 1999 European Championship. Starting against Croatia, he allowed 4 hits, 4 walks and two unearned runs in five innings, fanning one, before Andrei Polstianov relieved. Muratov took a 4-2 loss as Grgur Marusic outpitched him.
Muratov hit .298/.429/.439 in 2000 and was 3-2 with a 6.75 ERA for RusStar. He moved to SKV in 2001. Russian League stats are not available for that season or beyond (online, in English, as of May 2016).
