Vincenzo Luciani (Vic)
- Born June 25, 1946 in Cellino di Teramo Italy
Biographical Information[edit]
Vincenzo Luciani was a star in Italy.
Born in Italy, he moved with his family to Venezuela and then the US. He returned to Italy in 1971 to study and became a star in the Serie A1. He won five titles with Fortitudo Bologna and Grosseto, leading the league in average in 1977 and winning seven Gold Gloves. He later managed in Italy, guiding Grosseto to the 1989 Italian Series title. Unfortunately, for over a year (as of August 2020), the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation stats site is down, so complete stats are hard to come by for the moment.
He played for the Italian national team in the 1971 European Championship (Silver Medal), 1973 Intercontinental Cup (hitting a 10th-inning homer against Team USA in a major upset), 1974 Amateur World Series, 1977 European Championship (Gold) and 1980 Amateur World Series.
He made the Italian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
