Biographical Information[edit]
Victor Duarte signed with the Seattle Mariners at age 17. He debuted as a pro in 2005 with the DSL Mariners, where he was 2-6 with a save and a 3.57 ERA, striking out 48 in 35 1/3 IP. In 2006, he saved 3 games for the VSL Mariners, throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings. In 2007, he went 1-1 with 3 saves and a 0.90 ERA for the DSL Mariners. Duarte spent the 2008 season on the restricted list. In the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, he allowed one run in 7 innings for the Nicaraguan national team; he saved one game and helped the team qualify for the 2009 Baseball World Cup after having missed the 2007 Cup.
