Victor Devincenzi
Biographical Information[edit]
Victor "Cookie" Devincenzi was the owner of the Pacific Coast League Oakland Oaks from 1929 to 1945. Devincenzi purchased the club from J. Cal Ewing for $500,000 with Carl Zamloch and A. Robert Miller. He sold the club to Brick Laws and Joe Blumenfield in 1945 but stayed as general manager for several years after. He later was general manager of the Sacramento Solons.
Cookie Lavagetto's nickname was derived from Devincenzi's. When the Oaks signed Harry Lavagetto, the players took to calling him "Cookie's boy," an appellation later shortened to "Cookie."
