Biographical Information[edit]

Vic Albury pitched parts of four seasons in the majors with the Minnesota Twins during the 1970s. He primarily wore number 20. Drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the inaugural amateur draft, he was originally a first baseman when he took the field for the first time in organized baseball. Playing for the Dubuque Packers in 1965, he hit .233. He missed all of 1966-1968 due to military service. When he came back, he was a pitcher from 1969 to 1971, also playing 5 games at first base. He hit .354 in 78 games (66 as a pitcher) in 1971 for the Charlotte Hornets. Albury was a coach with the Waterloo Indians from 1982-1983 and Maine Guides in 1984. He died of a stroke in April 2017.
