Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Vance Lovelace took the loss in the finale of the 1975 Little League World Series. Working on the hill for Tampa, FL he allowed five walks, six hits and four runs (three earned) in five innings while striking out seven in a loss to Lakewood, NJ.
He was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the 1981 amateur draft and was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Ron Cey in 1983. After cups of coffee in the majors with the California Angels and Seattle Mariners, he pitched in the minors until 1994. He then played for the China Trust Whales in Taiwan in 1995.
Lovelace started in baseball operations in 1997 as a pitching coach and assistant general manager in the Northern League. After spending time as a scout for the Dodgers, Lovelace joined the team's front office in 2006 as special assistant to the general manager. As of 2011 he was the Dodgers' Director of Pro Scouting, Special Advisor to the GM.
