Biographical information[edit]
Vance Carlson was a minor league pitcher and manager. He played from 1946 to 1954, going 54-66. Perhaps his best year was his first, when he went 17-8 in 216 innings for the Twin Falls Cowboys (17-8) and Kansas City Blues (0-0). He served as a player-manager for parts of two seasons. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He served as a college football referee from 1947 to 1985. He was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
