Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Van Snider played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1988 and 1989.

Snider was in the Kansas City Royals organization from 1982 to 1987, twice hitting 20+ home runs. In 1988-1989 he split his time between the big league Reds and their Nashville Sounds farm club, where he hit 35 home runs in the two years in spite of being in the majors part of the time. From 1990 to 1996 he was in the five different organizations, finishing up in 1996 in the Mexican League.

He, Duke Snider and Travis Snider are the only major leaguers through 2008 with the last name Snider, although there have been many with the last name Snyder.

After baseball he became a police officer in Ohio.
