You should send an error report to Baseball-Reference (there is a link at the bottom of each page) concerning the wrong picture being used for both Red Kelly and Mike Kelly. It would be useful if you have a reliable source for who is actually depicted on the photo. Philippe (talk) 17:57, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, Philippe. I've become increasingly frustrated with finding incorrect player photos on the pages of players I'm researching, and I wasn't sure what to do. I appreciate your response! (Incidentally, in trying to recall which player this comment was on this morning, I casually came across the pages of John Kelly (1907 St. Louis) and Ed Kelly (1914 Boston), only to find that they both feature a photo of the same player.)

It was on Red Kelly's page. Philippe (talk) 21:49, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Is that a picture the right Harry Ely? His page states that one of the rejected candidates to identify him was Harry Cannon, aka Harry Ely, from Camden, NJ. I wonder if this could be the man whose picture you found, and not the actual (and very obscure) Harry Ely? Philippe (talk) 15:39, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

Yes - I've been on his trail for 15+ years and am satisfied that it's the right guy. The "Harry Cannon" reference was, I believe, a red herring or an inside joke, as I only came across the one instance of it and never found another reference to a pitcher (or player) by that name. Harry Ely was playing for Hazelton (PA) when "Ely from the Hazelton club" joined Baltimore; also, Harry Ely from Reading, PA often played in Camden. It has to be the same person. (Also, the article cointaining the picture I posted mentions that Ely was the only player from that Camden club to go on to attain greater success in the professional ranks.) Finally, SABR's Pictorial Committee seems to have blessed this picture as his official MLB portrait as well (as submitted by someone else).
