From BR Bullpen

Welcome to BR Bullpen! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the help pages. Again, welcome and have fun! Philippe (talk) 08:01, 3 September 2015 (EDT)

Please don't copy and paste articles from other sources (ex. Wikipedia article on Bullington) - --Mischa (talk) 17:06, 3 September 2015 (EDT)

I appreciate your willingness to contribute. It should just be remembered that we strive to be different from Wikipedia, because this is a hard core baseball site and we assume a better baseline knowledge of the game among our readers (for example, we don't need to write that someone is a "baseball" pitcher on this site - it just goes without saying). We've had some unhappy experiences with people at Wikipedia copying articles wholesale from our site without providing any credit, so there's some sensitivity involved. We don't want to do unto Wikipiedia what they do unto us.

Our preference is to have original content and yes, contrary to Wikipedia, the fruit of original research can be posted here, provided the research is solid. On the Bullington article, the research you've done for Wikipedia should give you the elements to expand and improve the article we currently have without necessarily reproducing the exact content and style of Wikipedia. It's a bit more work then a simple cut and paste, but it makes for better articles in the end (I'm just going over some debates we had among editors a few years back when the Bullpen was starting out). It menas that we may keep underdeveloped articles on certain subjects for longer, but in the end, when articles are written, they tend to be of better quality. What you will also find is that our definition of notability is much wider than Wikipedia's, so that articles on many topics that wiki-editors would reject are not only accepted but welcome here (e.g. articles about minor league or international players, about specific seasons of major league teams, about books or authors who would not pass Wikipedia notability standards, etc.) All this to say that you are welcome to contribute and you can talk to some of the old-timer editors here on our talk pages (such as Mischa or me) if you have a question on how to proceed. --Philippe (talk) 04:24, 4 September 2015 (EDT)

Sorry - hadn't realized you had done the work on the Wikipedia article. We've had some editors who will cross-post to some degree (ex. I know Alexsautographs has done this) with working the articles differently for the different sites. Otherwise, I second what Philippe said above. - --Mischa (talk) 09:21, 4 September 2015 (EDT)
