The United Arab Emirates (UAE), are a country in the Middle East. Sharing a border with Saudi Arabia, the UAE gained independence in 1971 from the United Kingdom. In a country where cricket is often seen as the national sport due to the large number of expatriate workers originating from the Indian sub-continent, the new professional baseball league, Baseball United, is working to spread the game's popularity in the region. The league was set to begin play towards the end of 2023.
