Biographical Information[edit]

Tzu-An Wang pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Wang signed with the Chicago Cubs in July 2009. He throws in the low 90s. Wang made his pro debut with the 2010 AZL Cubs, allowing four hits, two walks and three runs in two innings against the AZL Angels on June 22, taking the loss. He was 0-2 with a 7.32 ERA in 2010. After a shoulder injury ended his 2011 season, the Cubs released him, and he decided to come back to his hometown Taiwan. After playing in amateur teams for 3 years, the CTBC Brothers selected him in the fourth round of the 2013 CPBL Draft.

In his rookie year, Wang was 1-6 with a 4.20 ERA and collected 5 holds. He then went 2-6 with a 6.49 ERA in 2015, and he allowed 3 runs in one inning in the 2015 Taiwan Series; the Brothers lost to the Lamigo Monkeys in 5 games. Wang struggled again in 2016, having a 8.14 ERA in 17 games. He bounced back in 2017 as his ERA was 3.79 in 16 games, and he also pitched an inning in the 2017 Taiwan Series. The Brothers were beaten by the Monkeys in 5 games this time. Wang only pitched 11 more games for the Brothers in the next five years, and the Brothers released him after the 2022 season. The TSG Hawks picked him up, and he had a 3.97 ERA in 14 games in the minors in 2023 CPBL|2023]]. He announced his retirement after the 2023 season and became a scout.

Wang's repertoire included a fastball (peak 93.2 mph), curveball, changeup and forkball.

Overall, Wang was 4-15 with a 5.66 ERA, struck out 91 and pitched 165 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in the CPBL.
