Biographical Information

Ty'Relle Harris made his pro debut in 2009.

Harris won 10 games as a high school sophomore. His junior year, he was 6-2 with a 2.17 ERA. As a senior, he had a 7-1, 0.85 ERA with 110 whiffs in 71 innings. He led the Monticello Empire League in both ERA and batting average (.407). He began his collegiate career at the University of the Pacific, going 4-5 with a 5.97 ERA and walking 40 in 63 1/3 innings.

As a sophomore, Harris transferred to Sacramento City College and was 5-2 with a save, 4.42 ERA and 53 strikeouts to 18 walks in 53 innings. Switching schools yet again, he joined the University of Tennessee and was 2-2 with a save and a 4.62 ERA. As a senior at Tennessee, the Californian struggled at 4-4, 6.18 with one save. He struck out 58 in 55 1/3 innings.

The Atlanta Braves chose Harris in the 19th round of the 2009 amateur draft. After his mediocre college career, he dazzled in his pro debut, with the Danville Braves (Sv, 1.59, 9 K in 5 2 /3 IP, .227 opponent average) and Rome Braves (2-0, 0.77, 15 K in 11 2/3 IP, .132 opponent average).

Harris continued to rise through the chain in 2010. He appeared with Rome (4 Sv, 2.53, 12 K in 10 2/3 IP), the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (1-2, Sv, 3.71, 37 K in 26 2/3 IP) and Mississippi Braves (Sv, 1.46, 6 H in 12 1/3 IP). On August 3, he teamed with Julio Teheran (5 2/3 IP) for the second no-hitter in Mississippi team history (Tommy Hanson had the first in 2008).

Harris was dealt with Jeffrey Lorick and Robinson Lopez, both of them fellow second-year pros and relievers, to the Chicago Cubs for Derrek Lee only 15 days after his combined no-no. Chicago assigned him to the Tennessee Smokies, meaning that he had the same name on the front of his jersey as he had his last two years of college. He was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in four games for the Smokies. In 2011, he split time between the Smokies (1-0, 2.10 in 17 G, 27 BB in 34 1/3 IP) and Iowa Cubs (1 R in 3 IP). He pitched in 2012 for the Daytona Cubs (2-1, 2.53 in 16 G), Tennessee (0-2, 3.68) and Iowa (2-3, 4.88 in 8 G). Overall, he walked 39 in 82 innings.

Harris moved to the independent leagues in 2013, starting 2-3 with a 2.76 ERA and 38 K in 29 1/3 IP for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He then signed with Taiwan's Lamigo Monkeys.
