Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Troy Snitker was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 19th round of the 2011 amateur draft. He played in the Braves' chain in 2011-2012. He was sold to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations in March 2013, but instead played for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in 2013.

Snitker returned to his alma mater as a graduate assistant coach in 2015. He joined the Houston Astros organization in 2016 in the dual role of GCL Astros coach and the organization's rehabilitation hitting coordinator. Snitker was the hitting coach for the Buies Creek Astros in 2017 and the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2018. In the latter year Snitker was named the Texas League's inaugural Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Coach of the Year, which is given to a Texas League figure who has shown an outstanding baseball work ethic, knowledge of the game, and skill in mentoring young players on the field. Snitker completed 2018 by coaching Scottsdale Scorpions hitters in the Arizona Fall League.

In 2019 he moved to the parent Houston Astros as one of their hitting coaches. He remained in this role through the 2024 season.

Snitker's father Brian Snitker has been with the Braves' organization for over 40 years and became the team's manager in 2017. The two were on opposite sides in the 2021 World Series, with Brian managing the Braves against the Astros.
