Biographical Information

Pitcher Troy Evers was selected by the New York Mets in the tenth round of the 1982 amateur draft but did not sign. He was then taken by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 1985 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that year with the Oneonta Yankees, going 10-1 and leading the New York-Penn League with a 1.18 ERA. Late in the 1988 season, he was traded along with Jay Buhner and Rick Balabon to the Seattle Mariners for Ken Phelps. He played two seasons in the Seattle organization.

After several years away from baseball, Evers was a strike replacement player for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the spring of 1995. He then played for the Green Bay Sultans of the independent Prairie League, going 5-4 with a 2.08 ERA in 21 relief appearances.
