Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Troy Eklund spent two years in the minor leagues after being taken by the Texas Rangers in the 25th round of the 1989 amateur draft. He had been drafted by the Cleveland Indians the year before, but did not sign. In 53 games between two teams in 1989, he slashed .206/.304/.303 and in 98 games in 1990, he slashed .236/.312/.331.

He was named a NCAA Division I All-American outfielder by the American Baseball Coaches Association in 1989, alongside Tom Goodwin and Dan Peltier.
