Biographical Information[edit]

Tajima was drafted by the Nankai Hawks in the first round of the 1986 NPB draft, and he was 3-7 with a 3.99 ERA in 1987. However, he suffered from right shoulder injuries, so he didn't appear with the big club in the next five seasons. He was released in 1992, and he went to the minor leagues in 1993. Tajima had a 7.15 ERA in 3 games with the Sioux Falls Canaries, and he was 1-3 with a 5.46 ERA for the San Bernardino Spirit. He recorded a 7.42 ERA in 34 games with the Spirit in 1994, and he returned to Japan. The Nippon Ham Fighters signed him, but he stayed in the NPB Farm League before he was released in 1996.

The Shiga native then went to Taiwan and joined the Brother Elephants of the CPBL. He was 1-6 with a 5.64 ERA in 199, then he improved to 8-12 with a 4.79 ERA in 1998. Tajima ranked 2nd in losses, tied with Chang-Heng Hsieh. He allowed 20 runs in 11 2/3 innings in 1999, then he was released. Tajima joined the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League in 1999 after leaving Taiwan, but he still struggled as his ERA was 9.18 in 16 relief outings. He announced his retirement after the 1999 season.

Overall, Tajima was 9-20 with a 5.54 ERA, struck out 148 and pitched 204 2/3 innings in 3 years in the CPBL.
