Biographical Information

Toshio Saito was a 10th round draft pick of the Yokohama BayStars in the 2005 NPB draft after he had played for Mitsubishi Motors Okazaki. He made his Nippon Pro Baseball debut in 2008, going 7 for 39 with a walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI and 13 strikeouts, being used as a backup catcher. His first career hit came off Masayuki Hasegawa.

In 2009, Saito went 5 for 24 with a double, walk, 9 strikeouts, run and 2 RBI in 20 games. He was then traded with Takumi Nasuno to the Chiba Lotte Marines for Naoyuki Shimizu.
