Biographical Information

Toru Nishida has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Nishida was on the Japanese national team in the 1965 Asian Championship as the country won its fourth title. The Chunichi Dragons drafted him in the third round of the 1969 NPB draft. Nishida didn't had many chances in his five-year career, as he only played 165 games, and the 1974 season's 51 at-bats was the most at-bats he got in his career. He appeared in the 1974 Nippon Series, but went 0-for-2 in Game 1, then watched the Lotte Orions beat the Dragons in 6 games on the bench. He announced his retirement after that season.

Overall, Nishida had hit .206/.259/.302 in 5 seasons in NPB.
