Biographical Information[edit]

Tony Scruggs was in the majors with the Texas Rangers for five games in 1991, mostly as a left fielder. He also had seven seasons in the minors and one year in independent ball.

He had some very good minor league seasons - in 1987, his first season in pro ball, he hit .337 and slugged over .500, in a season split between two teams; in 1990, also split between two teams, he hit .322 and slugged .469.

Tony was born in Riverside, CA, attended Mount San Antonio College and UCLA, and was drafted by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 1987 Amateur Draft. All his minor league teams were in the Rangers organization except in 1993 when he played in the Seattle Mariners organization.

He was one of six players drafted out of UCLA in 1987, with the lowest draft pick, Jeff Conine, getting into the most major league games.

As of 2020, Tony was a professional speaker with a focus on empathy. He has also been in a number of movies and commercials.
