Biographical Information

Before he played in professional baseball, Tony "Andy" Cusick plied his game in the city of Fall River, MA as an all-around player. He played under the tutelage of Bartholomew "Bat" Shea, a Fall River police officer. "Bat" was a city league coach at the time that sent five of his players to the major leagues, the best being Tony. A police officer, Tony went on to play four years in pro ball, his first with the Wilmington Quicksteps in the Union Association, then three years with the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League. He umpired a total of four NL games in 1886 and 1887.

He went on to be a Chicago police officer, from which he retired. It is said his baseball card is a collector's dream as it is very rare.

After baseball he had a variety of jobs, working as an umpire, a plumber and a constable.
