Tomohiro Iizuka joined NTT Kanto in 1998 after finishing college. He played for the Japanese national team in the 1998 Asian Games (helping Japan take the Silver Medal). Iizuka moved to NTT East from 1999-2007. He was with Japan when they won Silver in the 1999 Asian Championship. As Japan's starting center fielder in the 2000 Olympics, he hit .286/.382/.321 and had six sacrifice hits in nine games. In the Bronze Medal game, he went 0 for 4 against Dae-sung Koo from the #2 slot as Japan fell to South Korea. Iizuka later became a coach for NTT East.
