Biographical Information[edit]

Tom O'Connell was a college coach for over 25 years.

O'Connell served in the US Army from 1956-1958. He was head coach of Braintree High School from 1964-1971, then was 172-73-6 as head coach of Brandeis University from 1972-1981. He took the team to second place at the 1977 Division III College World Series, the best finish in school annals (through 2010). After that, O'Connell coached Princeton University from 1982-1997, winning three Ivy League titles. He coached for the 1998 Cotuit Kettleers and 1999-2000 Hyannis Mets. Since his coaching days ended, he worked as a part-time Cincinnati Reds scout. Tom was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004 and was inducted into the Brandeis Hall of Fame in 2003.
