Biographical Information[edit]

Tom Kearns played catcher in the majors in 1880 and then second base in 1882 and 1884. He also played years in the minors, mostly in Canada and the Northeast.

Through 2008 the only other major leaguers with the last name Kearns are Austin Kearns and Teddy Kearns. Tom shares the nickname "Dasher" with several other players, although his contemporary Dasher Troy is the only one through 2008 who is remembered with the name as the first name.

Tom got most of his major league at-bats in 1884 when Bill Geiss was the regular second baseman for the 1884 Detroit Wolverines.
