Biographical Information

"Tom Delahanty, of Worcester, is rapidly closing in on the leaders of the batting list of the Eastern League." - Sporting Life of September 15, 1900

Tom Delahanty was one of five Delahanty brothers to play in the majors. He made his major league debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1894. His brother Ed was also on the team.

In his last year in the majors, 1897, he played one game for the Louisville Colonels at second base. A month later, another young second baseman, Honus Wagner, made his debut with the Colonels, appearing in 9 games at second that season. Delahanty was two years older than Wagner.

In the minors, he played from 1894-1906, finishing up at Williamsport, and managed at Denver in 1903. He hit .350 for Denver in 1902.

Tom ran a fishing camp in Florida for the twenty years before his death at the age of 79.
