Biographical Information[edit]

Tom Bolton spent seven years in the minors before getting a chance to play in the majors; he had been drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 20th round of the 1980 amateur draft and was not really considered a top prospect. He threw a curveball, a change-up and a sinking fastball. In 1990, Tom had a 6-1 record and 1.99 ERA at Fenway Park. Overall, he went 10-5 with a 3.38 ERA in what was easily his best season. He also pitched a couple of times in relief in the ALCS against the Oakland Athletics that year; in 3 innings, he gave up 2 hits but no runs. Tom's ERA was over 4 in every season after, wrapping his career with Baltimore in 1994.
