Biographical Information

Tomás Quiñones was a two-time Puerto Rican League MVP.

Quiñones led the league with a 1.62 ERA in 1943-1944 to win MVP honors, then led in wins (16-3) and ERA (2.52) in 1944-1945 to take home another MVP. In the next 65 years, only three other players and no other pitchers would win two Puerto Rican League MVPs - Willard Brown, Orlando Cepeda and Carlos Delgado. He had a brief stint in the US with the Negro League Indianapolis Clowns (no decisions in 1946, 0-1 in 1947). He also was unimpressive in the Mexican League, going 4-9 with a 6.41 ERA for the '45 Puebla Parrots and 2-3 with a 5.31 ERA between the Veracruz Eagle and Mexico City Red Devils. He was inducted into the Puerto Rican Baseball Hall of Fame in the 1990s.
