When the Western League was restarted by Ban Johnson in 1894, Toledo, OH fielded the Toledo White Stockings. The White Stockings finished second with a 67-55 record, trailing only the Sioux City Cornhuskers. Frank Foreman (22-19, 4.63, 10 HR as a batter) led the league with 190 strikeouts (or 189, depending on your source) while Jim Hughey (25-12) was second with a 3.76 ERA. The weak link in the staff was Frank Killen (11-20, 7.21). C Ed McFarland (.389/~.445/.661) and OF Dusty Miller (.351/~.400/.564) tied for second in the WL with 25 triples apiece. McFarland led the team in homers (16), doubles (43), hits (202), average, OBP and slugging.

The next season the team got off to a shaky start. Midway through the season Denny Long was annoyed with having to frequently find places around the Toledo area over the weekends due to the Blue Laws. As a result he moved the team to Terre Haute where the team finished the season as the Terre Haute Hottentots.
