Biographical Information[edit]

Tobias Streich made his pro debut in 2009.

Streich was picked by the Oakland Athletics in the 26th round of the 2007 amateur draft out of high school. He became the second freshman in WVU history to start at catcher. He hit .259/.320/.408 and fielded .997. That summer, he was named to the Alaska Baseball League All-Star team. As a sophomore in 2009, he batted .322/.366/.488. He was named All-Big East Conference at catcher. The Minnesota Twins chose Tobias in the fifth round of the 2009 amateur draft.

Streich hit .222/.287/.450 in his pro debut for the Elizabethton Twins with 10 homers, 38 runs and 37 RBI in 50 games. He was second in the Appalachian League in home runs (three behind teammate Josmil Pinto) and tied for the most double plays at catcher, 6. He has hit just .129/.235/.184 in his first 48 games of 2010, spent with three different clubs.

He is the brother of pitcher Seth Streich.
