Biographical Information[edit]

Tim Parenton has been a longtime coach.

Parenton was his high school's Athlete of the Decade for the 1970s, performing in baseball, basketball, football and track. He was a quarterback and infielder in college; Mississippi State made the 1980 Sun Bowl while he was there and he played baseball with Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Bobby Thigpen and Jeff Brantley. He remained at Mississippi State as assistant football coach for three years.

Parenton was assistant coach at Old Dominion University from 1991-1995 then returned to Mississippi State as assistant in 1996-1997, including a trip to the 1997 College World Series. From 1998-2004, he was head coach of Samford University and was named Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2004. From 2004-2007, he was assistant coach of the University of Florida. He then spent three years coaching Jesuit High School in New Orleans. Returning to college, he was an assistant at the University of North Florida starting in 2010. He was also a part-time color commentator for SEC-TV in 2001-2002.

In 2014, Parenton became a manager with the Hudson Valley Renegades. After three years in that role, he was hired as coach of University of North Florida for 2018. Parenton resigned in June 2023 due to health issues. He died in October after having battled throat cancer since 2019 [1].
