Tibuleones
Tibuleones was the unofficial nickname by which Venezuelan fans called the Llaneros de Portuguesa during their only season in the Venezuelan League in 1975-76. The team was formed when the Tiburones de La Guaira and Leones del Caracas had a dispute with the Universidad Central de Venezuela, which owned the ballpark shared by both teams. As a result, the two teams moved out of Caracas and temporarily merged their operations into a single team, a rather ironic development since the two teams were bitter rivals. The name is a conjoining of the two teams' previous names, Tiburones ("Sharks") and Leones ("Lions"). The combinations forms a nonce word that could be translated as "sharky-lions".
