Biographical Information[edit]
Thomas Nelson pitched in independent ball in 2011 and 2012 and from 2017 to 2019. He played for the Roswell Invaders (2011), Gary SouthShore RailCats (2011), Las Cruces Vaqueros (2012), Schaumburg Boomers (2012) and Trinidad Triggers (2017-2019).
He managed the Alpine Cowboys to a 32-32, 3rd-place finish and a playoff berth in 2016. From 2017 to 2019, he skippered the Triggers, leading them to a 36-23, 3rd-place finish in 2017, a 42-21, 2nd-place finish in 2018 and a 24-30, 5th-place finish in 2019. The team made the playoffs in 2017 and 2018, but lost in the first and second rounds, respectively. In 2023, he led the Roswell Invaders to a 30-23, 5th-place finish. He was pitching coach for the Las Vegas Train Robbers in 2013.
He is currently an assistant coach at Wabash Valley College. He has previously coached at Harris-Stowe State University (one season), Spalding University (one season), Brescia University (two seasons) and Culver Stockton College (in 2012). In 2014, he was first base coach for the Dodge City A's of the Jayhawk League.
