Biographical Information[edit]
Thomas Gorman was a top player for 25 games in the short-lived Union Association in 1884, playing for the Kansas City Cowboys. He never played major league ball in any other year.
Gorman was formerly confused with Jack Gorman of the same team, but they have turned out to be different people. Tom had previously played amateur and semi-pro ball in St. Louis.
Gorman's Adjusted OPS+ would have put him fourth in the league if he had had enough at-bats. His batting average of .321 would have been good enough for fifth.
There have been several other players named Tom Gorman, and of course one named Gorman Thomas.
