Biographical Information[edit]
Thiago Ojima is the brother of Kleber Ojima and nephew of Paulo Ojima; all three played for the Brazilian national team.
Thiago hit .428/.444/.688 as Brazil's center fielder in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup; only Ronaldo Ono hit better for them. He also played in the 1995 Pan American Games and 1999 Pan American Games. In the 2002 Intercontinental Cup, he batted .316/.409/.316 while manning right field for Brazil. During the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he put up a .227/.487/.364 line while again manning right. His 11 walks in 9 games were more than the entire Chinese and Italian teams and one behind tournament leader Omar Moreno Jr. In Brazil's near-upset 4-3 loss to Cuba in the quarterfinals in which his brother was the star pitcher, Thiago went 2 for 5 out of the leadoff spot.
