Ronaldo Ono has played 16 years for the Brazilian national team through 2007 and was their captain for the 2007 Pan American Games.
Ono hit .444/.500/.778 as a 1B/2B in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, their first major worldwide international competition. He also was with the team for the 1995 Pan American Games. From 1996 through 2001, Ono played in Japan before an injury forced him to return to Brazil. He was with Brazil for the 1999 Pan American Games. In the 2002 Intercontinental Cup, Ono hit only .105/.227/.105 as the Brazilian first sacker. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, Ronaldo batted .273/.314/.273 while manning left field for the Brazilians. In the 2006 COPABE qualifier for the 2008 Olympics, Ono batted .364/.417/.545 with 5 runs in five games as Brazil's second-best contact hitter. In the 2007 Pan American Games, Ono was 2 for 10 with two walks and a double as the club's first baseman and captain.
