Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Terance Marin signed with the Chicago White Sox on July 29, 2010 as an undrafted free agent after being in junior college. He played in their organization until 2016, reaching AAA, then moved on to play in Mexico for a number of years and also spent one season in the CPBL in Taiwan.

He was at first used as a reliever by the White Sox and had a first good season in 2011 when he was 3-1, 1.99 in 26 games for the Kannapolis Intimidators of the South Atlantic League. In 2012, he was a combined 7-7, 3.83 with 10 saves in 42 games between Kannapolis and the Winston-Salem Dash of the Carolina League. In 2013, he made 7 starts in 33 appearances with Winston-Salem, going 5-5, 4.76. He reached AA briefly in 2014, going 4-5, 4.34 in 16 games between Winston-Salem and the Birmingham Barons of the Southern League, but he also pitched for the Evansville Otters of the independent Frontier League, going 4-1, 2.06 in 6 starts between the two stints with White Sox farm teams. After the season, he played winter ball for the first time, with the Caneros de Los Mochis in the Mexican Pacific League. He then played in the 2014 Caribbean Series on loan to the Tomateros de Culiacan, going 2-0 with a virgin ERA for the runners-up in the tournament.

In 2015, he started the season in the Mexican League with the Toros de Tijuana and finished the year back in the White Sox system, pitching in AAA for the Charlotte Knights of the International League. He went 3-4, 2.93 in 19 games for Charlotte. That winter was spent with the Charros de Jalisco, after which he was loaned to the Venados de Mazatlan for the 2016 Caribbean Series, pitching twice in relief without giving up a run. In 2016, he spent a full season at Charlotte, going 8-7, 4.66 in 26 games, including 16 starts. However, he never got the call to the Show, one that most pitchers who like him spend more than a few weeks in AAA and have success eventually receive. After another winter ball season with Jalisco in 2016-17, he moved over to Taiwan in 2017, pitching one season with the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions. However, he did not do well, going 1-1, 10.71 in 5 games.

The rest of his career was spent in Mexico. He went 10-4 between the two half seasons of the Mexican League in 2018 with the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, and 7-3, 5.32 for Tijuana in 2019. He sat out the 2020 season when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the Mexican League, but returned in 2021 and 2022 with the Tigres de Quintana Roo, going 5-4, 5.43 the first year and 4.2, 5.20 the second, both seasons as a starting pitcher.
