- 1907 - Nick Maddox no-hits Brooklyn in a 2-1 win. The 20-year-old hurler is the youngest pitcher in major league history to throw a no-hitter.
- 1931 - Lou Gehrig (pictured) drives in his 175th run, setting a new American League record for RBIs; Gehrig had set the old mark four years earlier.
- 1994 - Ichiro Suzuki raps his 200th hit of the season. The Orix BlueWave rookie outfielder is the first player in Nippon Pro Baseball history with 200 hits in a year.
- 1998 - Cal Ripken Jr. removes himself from the lineup, ending his record run of 2,632 consecutive games played.
- 2014 - Jerome Williams beats the Athletics for the third time this season - wearing his third different uniform: he had recorded a win against the A's with the Astros and Rangers, before doing so for the Phillies today.
