- 1902 - The Tinker-Evers-Chance infield (Tinker pictured) makes its first appearance.
- 1954 - Ted Kluszewski scores a run for the 17th straight game, setting a modern record.
- 1965 - Willie Mays homers off of Don Nottebart to become the fifth member of the 500 home run club. Six years later on this date, Frank Robinson also hits #500 and becomes the 11th member of the exclusive club.
- 1974 - The Phillies set a NL record by using 27 players (in a 17-inning game), only two days after the Cardinals had set the record in a 25-inning marathon.
- 1992 - Kenny Lofton steals his 54th base, setting the American League rookie record. The old standard had been set in 1909 by Donie Bush.
