- 1948 - Fumio Fujimura hits for the cycle, the first time this has been done in Nippon Pro Baseball annals.
- 1968 - The Year of the Pitcher continues in the World Series, as Bob Gibson sets a Series record with 17 strikeouts to beat Denny McLain, 4-0, in Game 1.
- 1978 - In a one-game playoff to determine the American League East championship, light-hitting Bucky Dent (pictured) stuns Mike Torrez with a three-run homer as the Yankees top the Red Sox, 5-4.
- 2002 - Alex Cabrera of the Seibu Lions hits his 55th home run, tying Sadaharu Oh and Tuffy Rhodes for the Nippon Pro Baseball record.
