November 26: Today's featured birthday is that of Sam Militello, who turns 55.
- 1935 - The National League briefly takes over the Boston Braves when no owner can be found.
- 1949 - It is decided to replace the Japanese Professional Baseball League with two new leagues, the Pacific League and Central League.
- 1975 - Fred Lynn wins the 1975 American League MVP Award. He is the first person to be named both Rookie of the Year and MVP in the majors.
- 1979 - For the second time, there is a tie in Rookie of the Year voting as Alfredo Griffin and John Castino share the Award in the AL. The rules will be changed after this vote.
- 1980 - Mike Schmidt (pictured) unanimously wins the 1980 National League Most Valuable Player Award after a 48-homer season.
