- 1904 - Dan McGann steals five bases in a game. It will not be done again in the majors until Davey Lopes 70 years later; Otis Nixon will break the record with six in a 1991 game.
- 1909 - The Naps top the Browns, 5-2. 44 assists are registered, the all-time major league record for a nine-inning game.
- 1958 - Masaichi Kaneda's Nippon Pro Baseball-record consecutive scoreless inning streak ends at 58 1/3 when he allows a home run to Hiroshima Carp hitter Hiromu Fujii.
- 1960 - To try to handle Hoyt Wilhelm (pictured)'s knuckleball, Clint Courtney dons an extra-large mitt. Such a mitt will be banned later by baseball authorities.
- 1997 - Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 23rd home run, setting a new record for homers through May. Griffey himself had held the record previously.
