November 24: Today's featured birthday is that of Ben McDonald, who turns 57.
- 1880 - Lip Pike hits a home run into the Hudson River outside Riverside Park, but due to the rules of the era, the ball is still in play. Outfielder Lon Knight goes after the ball with a boat but soon gives up his futile attempt.
- 1930 - Max "Camera Eye" Bishop draws eight walks in a doubleheader win by the A's. He is the only player in major league history to have done so - and will repeat the feat four years later.
- 1952 - A record 19 consecutive players reach base as the Dodgers score 15 in the 1st inning of a 19-1 rout of Ewell Blackwell. Pee Wee Reese reaches base three times in the frame.
- 1981 - Ron Darling (pictured) of Yale and St. John's ace Frank Viola trade goose eggs for 11 innings, Darling working a no-hitter, before St. John's scores on a scratch single and three steals in the 12th.
- 2001 - For the first time in major league history, six grand slams are hit in one day. Chipping in are Garret Anderson, J.T. Snow, Brian Hunter, Jason Giambi, Adrian Beltre and Shawn Green.
