- 1911 - The Giants score a record ten runs before a batter is retired in the 1st inning. Fred Merkle drives in six of the team's 13 tallies in the inning.
- 1923 - Joe Sewell strikes out twice in a game, one of only two times it will happen during his major league career. Cy Warmoth is the opposing pitcher.
- 1942 - Jim Tobin smashes three home runs, the only pitcher to do so in the 20th Century. He throws a five-hitter in the 6-5 Braves win.
- 1952 - Ron Necciai (pictured) of the Bristol Twins strikes out 27 batters in an Appalachian League contest.
- 1958 - Stan Musial hits a pinch-hit double against Moe Drabowsky. It is his 3,000th hit in the major leagues.
