- 1948 - Murry Dickson (pictured) of the St. Louis Cardinals becomes the first man to throw a nine-inning no-hitter in spring training competition.
- 1988 - Commissioner Peter Ueberroth suspends Eddie Milner for the season due to cocaine use.
- 1992 - The Chicago White Sox acquire George Bell from the Chicago Cubs for Sammy Sosa and Ken Patterson. The White Sox will rue the trade as Bell is on the decline while Sosa will emerge as one of the stars of the decade.
- 1993 - Charlie Brown hits his first home run in 43 years in the world of comic strips.
- 2000 - Rickey Henderson becomes the second player to steal a base in four different decades in the major leagues. Ted Williams, surprisingly, was the other one.
