November 15: Today's featured birthday is that of Randy Niemann, who turns 69.
- 1933 - Kiki Cuyler (pictured) of the Chicago Cubs breaks his leg and will miss almost three months.
- 1954 - Phil Wrigley, owner of the Cubs, fires manager Phil Cavarretta, for being too pessimistic about the team in interviews. Cavaretta's assessment will prove accurate, however.
- 1973 - Charlie Finley's "Agent Orange Baseball" gets its first use in an exhibition game but is met with near-universal disdain and criticism and will never be used in a regular season contest.
- 1983 - The 1983 Dodgers becomes the first team to suspend season ticket sales before the start of the season; 27,000 have been sold already.
- 2000 - In the first season opener outside of North America, the Cubs beat the Mets, 5-3, as Jon Lieber defeats Mike Hampton in the game played at the Tokyo Dome.
