- 1901 - Philadelphia Phillies owner John Rogers tries to stop his players from jumping to the American League, filing an injuction to bar Nap Lajoie, Chick Fraser and Bill Bernhard (pictured) from switching teams.
- 1913 - In an uncommon deal, the St. Louis Browns trade Buzzy Wares to the Montgomery Black Sox for the rights to Montgomery's stadium during spring training.
- 1991 - Methodist College scores a NCAA record 43 runs in a shutout rout of Maryville University. The old record of 42 had stood for 89 years.
- 1999 - In the first game between a Major League Baseball team and Cuban team in 40 years, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Cubans, 3-2, despite only two hits allowed in eight innings by Jose Contreras. Harold Baines drives in the winner against Pedro Luis Lazo, while Charles Johnson hits a two-run homer off Jose Ibar.
- 2006 - The Rakuten Golden Eagles become the fastest team to 100 losses in Nippon Pro Baseball history, reaching the mark in their 139th game. The second-year expansion team breaks the old record of 145 held by the Hiroshima Carp.
