The Day of Cardinals transactions
- 1900 - John McGraw, Wilbert Robinson and Bill Keister are sold by the Brooklyn Superbas to the St. Louis Cardinals but McGraw and Robinson refuse to report.
- 1936 - Dizzy Dean ends a holdout with the St. Louis Cardinals, signing for $24,000 over one year.
- 1938 - Kenesaw Mountain Landis grants free agency to 74 St. Louis Cardinals farmhands, most notably Pete Reiser.
- 1958 - The San Francisco Giants trade Bill White to the St. Louis Cardinals to open space for prospect Willie McCovey (pictured).
- 2000 - The Cardinals deal Kent Bottenfield and Adam Kennedy to the Anaheim Angels for Jim Edmonds, who will go on to many fine years with the Redbirds.
- 2009 - Japan wins the 2009 World Baseball Classic, beating South Korea, 5-3, in ten innings. Daisuke Matsuzaka is named MVP, just as he was in the first World Baseball Classic.
