November 15: Today's featured birthday is that of Randy Niemann, who turns 69.
- 1886 - St. Louis Browns star Bob Caruthers (pictured) ends his holdout via telegram from Paris, France. Caruthers earns the nickname "Parisian Bob" during the dispute.
- 1943 - Major League Baseball approves the use of the balata ball due to wartime unavailability of cork and rubber. Offensive levels fall drastically as a result.
- 1954 - Bobby Thomson of the Milwaukee Braves breaks his ankle sliding into a base. 1953 South Atlantic League batting champion Hank Aaron will take his spot in the field and hold on to it for decades.
- 1960 - Bill Veeck of the Chicago White Sox puts into place a new innovation, the use of player's last names on the back of their uniforms.
- 2012 - Raimar Navarro and Pablo Fernández combine on the first extra-inning no-hitter in Cuban Serie Nacional history.
