November 6: Today's featured birthday is that of Ever Magallanes, who turns 59.
- 1871 - The Athletic of Philadelphia beat the Troy Haymakers, 49-33, in the highest-scoring major league game ever. John Radcliff goes 7 for 7.
- 1907 - With Red Kleinow out, Branch Rickey is pressed into service despite an injured shoulder. The Senators take advantage, stealing a major league-record 13 bases off the sore-shouldered backstop.
- 1950 - Hideo Fujimoto throws the first perfect game in Nippon Pro Baseball history.
- 1957 - Controversy erupts after ballot box stuffing places eight Redlegs into the 1957 All-Star Game. Stan Musial is the only player from another team to win the fan vote in the NL. Commissioner Ford Frick voids some of the votes, letting Willie Mays and Hank Aaron start.
- 2004 - David Bell (pictured) hits for the cycle. He and Gus Bell become the first grandson-grandfather combination to both hit for the cycle in the majors.
