- 1946 - The St. Louis Cardinals sell Walker Cooper to the New York Giants for $175,000, making it the largest transaction for a single player to that date.
- 1993 - Reggie Jackson is voted into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
- 1998 - 324-game-winner Don Sutton finally gains election to the Hall of Fame on his fifth try.
- 1999 - The Hall of Fame gets three new members when Robin Yount, George Brett and Nolan Ryan are voted in.
- 2006 - The San Diego Padres pick up Chris Young, Adrian Gonzalez and Terrmel Sledge from the Texas Rangers for Akinori Otsuka (pictured), Billy Killian and Adam Eaton. The Padres will win the trade overwhelmingly.
